Can I use My LLC for two different reasons?

Hello, I own an LLC in the State of New Jersey, and I incorporared it with an EIN. Its main reason is to own assets (apps) and generate through ad revenue, and that was the purpose I filed it under. Now, I am trying to get ad monetization for a website. I don’t want to admit it out loud, but this content is NSFW. It would work to generate ad revenue through Cost Per Click/Views/Impressions. Being NSFW, I fear it brings more attention to the site, and might be involved in legal suits comparatively more than a simple conpany that holds apps.

Now, I can pay $500 to hold and create another company, but since I have not even made a penny, I don’t feel it as reasonable. Maybe until I make $500 from the Website, I will.

Anyway, is there any legal ramifications if I filed for the LLC to make money through App revenue, and then put add in a website that makes money through ad revenue? Keep in mind I already have a website for my apps/company.

Thanks a ton!

IANAL, but I don't think there is. I believe it's only an issue if the tax rates change or you were getting some sort of other benefits from one that wouldn't apply to the other.

keeping it separated would probably be ideal. You’d rather be careful now then sorry later. Also it doesn’t cost $500 to file a LLC. You can do it for $80 on the NJ state website

The $500 is probably the annual fee, like in Cali it’s $800 per year

When I had multiple LLCs, I had to have multiple bank accounts, multiple accounting books, and multiple tax filings. Just something to think about.

I wouldn't worry about the state other than regulatory issues and Maki g sure you've filed whatever paperwork. They just care about getting their tax money really. Besides, every hera5they ask on the tax forms what your main business is. There's no reason you can't change it from year to year

Not a lawyer but seems like the duck test - if it looks, sounds, and swims like a duck it’s a duck.

A company that makes money off apps can probably include websites as well. Now if you start selling NSFW content that’s a different thing with liability concerns but you’re not doing that.

Not like Cams, just content that hosts NSFW content, thanks for the info!
